WASHINGTON (AP) - As Washington Manicure Lidia Schaefer returned to his home village in Ethiopia, he is concerned by what he saw: children walk three hours each way not attend classes in a school, but under a tree.
When he learned that in 1998 one of the girls he had - Medhin - has been known to attack and killed by a hyena, after falling behind the other children during the long journey home from school, Schaefer knew he had set aside begun act.She thirds of his salary and all his advice and later sold his house and car to raise enough money to build a school for the people.
"It is certainly not your average manicure," says Denise Abraham, a longtime customer.
